In the month of June of 1976, the Administrative Political Division approved by law in 1975 and created the Ciego de Ávila province, the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of the Sugar Industry was founded in Ciego de Ávila.

In February, 1981, sugarcane agriculture was merged with Ministry of the Sugar Industry, remaining with the same name. But, it moves its seats to Máximo Gómez street in Ciego de Ávila Municipality.

In 2001, the Agro – industrial Business Group was founded, occupying the same building as the former Territorial Delegation in Ciego de Ávila.
On July 30, 2011, the Ciego de Ávila Sugar Company was founded from Resolution 324 of 2011 of the Ministry of Sugar, which became today the AZCUBA Group. This entity existing until today, occupying the same building indicated above.
