The State Socialist Company, Electric Company of Ciego de Ávila with legal residence in Los Deportes Avenue, North Circular route, was created by Resolution 14 from 2001 of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, dated January 3, 2001 in its seventh resolve, authorizes the creation of the Ciego de Ávila Electric Company, integrated into the Electric Union and subordinate to the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

It is designed, to fulfill the assigned business object, with a General Manager´s office, six functional Manager´s offices and twenty-four Base Business Units.
